We work across four areas: North London, East London, South London, and Essex. The building stock varies. The standard of work does not.
Each area has a distinct character of building stock. Georgian terraces in Islington, Victorian industrial conversions in Shoreditch, Edwardian villas in Dulwich, interwar semis in Essex. We know the materials that went into each of them.
Islington, Camden, Highgate, Hampstead, Stoke Newington, Finsbury Park, Crouch End. Heavy concentration of Georgian and early Victorian stock. Portland stone, London stock brick, limestone.
View North London → ESpitalfields, Bethnal Green, Shoreditch, Hackney, Bow, Stepney. Surviving Georgian terraces, Victorian warehouses, and one of the highest concentrations of listed domestic buildings in London.
View East London → SClapham, Battersea, Bermondsey, Southwark, Dulwich, Peckham, Herne Hill. Victorian terrace stock, railway-era commercial buildings, and a growing number of conservation area designations.
View South London → ExChelmsford, Colchester, Brentwood, Epping and surrounds. Georgian market town buildings, Roman-period masonry, early brick construction, and a significant stock of listed rural properties.
View Essex →Portland stone facades in the City behave differently from the gault brick of north Essex. London stock brick from the Thames valley clampfields has a different composition from the white Suffolk bricks that appear across East Anglia. A method that works on one can damage the other.
We have spent twenty-five years working across these areas specifically. The material knowledge is local knowledge. We assess the building in front of us, not a generic substrate type.
Different London boroughs and Essex districts have different requirements for works to listed buildings and conservation areas. Some require Conservation Officer pre-approval for cleaning. Some don't. Some require a specific method statement. Some are more flexible on specification.
We know the local requirements for the areas we work in. We prepare the documentation, liaise with the relevant officers, and make sure the work can proceed without delay.
